MY FATHER. BLIND MAN WALKING IN THE SUN From the series: A MAN OF GREAT COURAGE

IN THE SUMMER OF THAT YEAR my father took long walks in the sun, in the blackness of his space with all its’ enveloping shadows.
And, though his dog guided him safely though all the noise and chaos of the crowds and traffic, the fear of it never left him.
People who saw him walking, deeply tanned with his white hair radiant in the sun, and they said “Isn’t it wonderful. He gets along so well”.
My father went out walking every day, pushing against his darkening shadows. I never heard him complain. He had become a man of great courage and constant sorrow.
